OUR APPROACH

‘Trust’ is not just a word for the Guardian Angel Wildlife and Marine Trust, but a commitment etched in our every endeavor. In a landscape cluttered with ‘trusts’, we remain unwavering in our dedication to earn and maintain the trust of our donors. With increasing pressure on the very survival of iconic species such as the Rhino, Lion, and Pangolin, we embrace a holistic approach, tackling each conservation challenge and intervention one

project at a time.

Led by a team of highly experienced professionals, the Guardian Angel Wildlife and Marine Trust can be considered as the Custodian of Nature Conservation - abiding by Good Governance and Legal Compliance in our quest to meet our project objectives.

Partnering with us means joining a unique team, to be judged not on our words, but on our actions. At least 80% of our funds flow directly into carefully selected and administered projects, demonstrating our commitment to tangible impact. We do not rely solely on external funding; we are capable of generating our own resources, ensuring sustainability and independence. Donors become part of a Success Story.

Simplicity lies at the heart of our Trust’s ethos. We believe in starting with a few carefully contained projects which we execute flawlessly, rather than overreaching our capabilities. Trust is our currency and our word is our bond. With like-minded partners, we will be empowered to eradicate the obstacles standing in the way of Nature Conservation and Preservation.

Come on board with us as we safeguard our planet's precious wildlife and marine ecosystems for generations to come

Our Strategic Objectives

OUR STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

To introduce, facilitate and monitor preventative strategies to ensure the continued existence of our wildlife and aquatic life in their natural habitats on the Sub-Saharan African Continent.

To bring to account poachers, potential poachers, their support systems and syndicates who perform or facilitate the illegal killing and trading of wildlife for financial gain.

To pre-empt and intercept poachers by revolutionizing anti-poaching efforts in Sub-Saharan Africa, both on land and in our surrounding waters, through the utilization of aerial surveillance technologies.

To create synergies with anti-poaching agencies to access their knowledge and information technologies.

To equip our ground forces with upgraded capabilities to counter poaching operations before they are carried out.

To gather intelligence and evidence of criminal activities through testimony, photographic evidence, electronic recordings and sworn statements which will enable prosecutors and law enforcement agencies to quickly and effectively apprehend and bring to trial alleged culprits.

To lobby the support of key people within the justice system and the public to endorse heavy penalties for crimes against wildlife, including trespassing, the possession of unlicensed firearms and illegal wildlife trading.

Our Long Term Goals

OUR LONG TERM GOALS

Conservation and Habitat Restoration

Our primary goal is to conserve and protect the biodiversity of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems in their natural habitats. This involves implementing ambitious, but achievable, conservation interventions such as habitat restoration, anti-poaching efforts, creating protected marine areas, and introducing programs to repopulate the number of endangered species. We are committed to the restoration and maintenance of healthy ecosystems and habitats to ensure that they can sustain their diverse inhabitants. This includes, inter alia, forests, wetlands, coral reefs and savannah.

Sustainable Practices

Our stretch will extend to the promotion of sustainable land and resource management practices. This includes limiting the human footprint on conservation areas. To create a sustainable future where biodiversity thrives, ecosystems are healthy, and humans and animals coexist harmoniously with nature is our impetus, our driving force.

Education and Awareness

A crucial aspect of our strategy is to educate and raise public awareness of the significance of wildlife and marine conservation. Educating youth through school programs, creating outreach initiatives, public campaigns and community engagement efforts will foster a greater understanding of these issues and will hopefully encourage responsible behaviors.

Research and Monitoring

Conducting scientific research and investigative studies is essential to a proper understanding of ecosystem dynamics. Monitoring animal migrations and tracking population trends; identifying threats and weaknesses in areas under threat; evaluating the effectiveness of conservation interventions by gathering metrics and analytics, may necessitate the involvement of mutually beneficial partnerships with research institutions, field study centers, and data collection and analysis programs.

Collaborations and Partnerships

At present, we are collaborating with certain local governments, NGOs, local communities, important players in the business sector and other stakeholders to leverage resources and to gain expertise and influence in order to maximise our impact. Building strong partnerships will assist us to fundraise, encourage investment in our Trust, to promote policy advocacy and to encourage knowledge sharing.

Advocacy and Policy Engagement

Engaging in advocacy activities and influencing policy is essential to address the drivers of biodiversity loss, habitat destruction, exploitation of natural resources, climate change and pollution. We are intent on advocating for stronger conservation laws, regulations and policies at local, national and international levels.

Sustainable Funding

Securing sustainable funding streams is critical to the long-term success and continuity of our conservation efforts. This may require the diversifying of sources of funding, cultivating donor relationships, receiving grants and bequests, organizing fundraising events and increasing income-generating activities such as ecotourism and the sale of merchandise

Overall, our strategic objectives encompass a range of approaches aimed at achieving our Guiding Star of safeguarding and restoring the natural world for future generations.
